On December 4, the Kyrgyz-Uzbek International University named after B. Sydykov celebrated the Day of the Epic “Manas.” As part of the event, a competition entitled “The Epic Manas – a Heritage Passed Through Generations” was held among students of the Kyrgyz Language and Literature program at the Faculty of History and Philology.
At the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and the State Language Syrgak Sarykov and Dean of the Faculty Zhannat Kadenova delivered speeches, congratulating the participants on the Day of “Manas.” In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of glorifying the national heritage — the epic “Manas” — and passing it down from generation to generation, wishing the students success in the competition.
The purpose of the competition was to promote the epic “Manas” among young people, introduce them to spiritual values, and strengthen patriotic feelings. The contest was held among 2nd- and 3rd-year students of the Faculty of History and Philology, with two teams competing: “Kolomto” and “Keykashka.”
The teams defended the meaning of their names, answered six questions about the epic “Manas,” and explained the significance of selected expressions from the epic. Later, team leaders competed on the Kahoot platform, answering 15 questions. The teams also challenged each other with questions, competing across six different rounds.
The jury, consisting of Vice-Rector for the State Language and Social Affairs, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Syrgak Sarykov; Head of the Master’s Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Nazira Tilekova; and Dean of the Faculty of History and Philology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Zhannat Kadenova, highly appreciated the activity of both teams.
In the final results, the “Kolomto” team scored 98 points and was declared the winner, receiving a First-Degree Diploma and a book as a prize. The “Keykashka” team took second place and was awarded a Second-Degree Diploma. Other participating students were also recognized with Certificates of Honor from the faculty.
